Brightman Clarke Architects has been appointed to design a substantial new build home south of Doncaster in a beautiful rural village setting.

We’re excited to share the latest artist impressions for Villa Strava, one of our current new build projects. This property combines contemporary design with mid-20th-century inspiration and showcases our commitment to creating distinctive, meaningful spaces for our clients.

Villa Strava is a project we’re incredibly proud of. It’s a five-bedroom family home featuring everything from a high-spec fitness suite and cinema to formal living and dining areas, versatile family spaces, a dedicated office, and an oversized garage/workshop.

The home draws on the elegance and simplicity of the mid-century pavilion style, inspired by architects like Richard Neutra, Philip Johnson, and Mies van der Rohe, who championed a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors.

This rural location presents unique challenges due to its sensitive nature, and our team has worked carefully within these constraints to create a design that we’re confident will meet both the client’s vision and local planning considerations.

A standout feature of Villa Strava is its use of high-quality materials. With textured, hand-finished bricks and charred timber cladding, the house has a warmth that can often lost in modern builds. These materials help the home sit well with its semi-formal planted garden, creating a harmonious connection between the architecture and the natural world.

We’ve paid particular attention to the home’s orientation to maximise natural light, ensuring every main room, including all family bedrooms, enjoys expansive views over the garden and surrounding countryside. This design choice fosters a sense of openness and connection to nature, essential for a family home in such a picturesque setting.
