Introducing Moorgate, South Yorkshire

We’re delighted to share one of our latest completed projects – Moorgate, a carefully designed extension and renovation in South Yorkshire.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a fragmented layout into a unified, functional, and stylish family home. The brief was to improve the home and garden connection while creating a more open and welcoming internal layout.

The existing property had undergone several extensions over the years, resulting in a disjointed and inefficient layout. Our solution included reconfiguring the internal spaces and adding a modest rear extension, creating a bright, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area. The new space features large glazed doors and windows that seamlessly link the interiors with the garden, providing year-round enjoyment of the outdoor space.

As part of the redesign, we relocated the utility and shower room to a former dining area and positioned the new kitchen in what was previously an underutilised lounge. This approach allowed us to create a centralised dining area within the main living space – perfect for family life.

What we did.

Externally, we introduced an overhanging canopy above the sliding glass doors, offering shade on warmer days and creating a sheltered seating area for cooler weather. The house’s exterior was transformed with a mix of white render and stone cladding, with cedar detailing adding warmth to the rear canopy and the newly designed entrance.

Visiting the family after completion was a rewarding experience. Seeing how they have embraced their redesigned home and hearing how the space has brought them closer together made all the hard work worthwhile.
