00009 / Inside-out living spaces - an introduction

It has been hot over the last few weeks, and summer has really arrived. It’s at times like this we think about all our clients who have recently embraced inside-out living spaces, relaxing and entertaining family and friends.

The concept is simple: to blend the boundaries between the interior and exterior of a building, creating harmonious connections with nature while still providing functional spaces. Features like patios and decks seamlessly become extensions of the indoor living areas, enhancing relaxation, entertaining spaces, and relationships with the garden.

We recently took some photos of The Mews; it's a great example of what can be done in a relatively compact area. Our clients also appointed Phil Hirst Garden Design to complement our architectural design.

The Muse is a modern flat-roofed extension to the back of the existing house to relocate the kitchen and create a linear open-plan living, dining and kitchen space with strong connections to an ornamental family garden.
